Clubs & Extracurriculars

Academic Decathlon is a national event with students from almost all 50 states and several other countries participating. Students compete in 10 scholastic events as teams of 9 students comprised of even numbers of "A", "B" and "C" grade averages. CHS is the reigning state champions in Division III for the last 4 years. The theme for the 17 - 18 Academic Decathalon is Africa.

Drama is a semester long class that introduces students to the basics of stage craft, ensemble building, lighting, sound, and makeup. Students perform at the end of each semester. Last semester was Romeo and Juliet: Six Very Busy Day. This semester’s play has not be chosen yet.

Hello! My name is Rachael Balcom, and I will be serving as the K-12 music teacher.

This is my second year in Alaska and I continue to look forward to all of the opportunities I have here. I hail from Oregon and completed my degree in Music Education at Corban University. My main instrument is the oboe, and I specialize in playing woodwind instruments. I enjoying hiking, reading, creating art, and teaching music! I am very excited to continue my work with the students here in Craig. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Craig High School SCUBA Club offers students the opportunity to become PADI Open Water SCUBA Divers at no cost the student or school district.  This is a challenging and rewarding experience for students and there are 20 different SCUBA classes to complete along with earning college credit for completing the courses.  Students can reach the professional level of Dive Master and possibly make a career out of SCUBA.  Currently Craig High School has over 25 certified students enrolled in school.
